Founded in 1921 in The Sutu Palace (a historical monument, dating from 1834, the work of architects Johann Veit and Conrad Schwink, who used the Neo-Gothic style) consists of Archaeology (Paleolithic, Neolithic, and Bronze Age artifacts), history: the largest part of the collection dates from the Middle Ages (pottery, ornaments, hoards), numismatics: Ottoman, Austrian, Russian coins, seals of great noble families, a photo collection (49, 000 items, including the first photographic images of the city of Bucharest), medieval, modern and contemporary documents, maps and designs including 1000 items regarding the city of Bucharest, and collections related to the history of Bucharest.
