Art Collections Museum
Founded in 1978, the museum houses valuable private art collections, donated to the state by their owners or their families: the Marcu Beza, Elisabeta and Moise Weinberg, dr. Mircea Petrescu, Eugen Taru, Mara Basca, acad. Gheorghe Oprescu, Anastase Simu, Elena and dr. Iosif Dona, professor Garabet Avakian, Alexandra and Barbu Slatineanu collections. They comprise above all Romanian and European paintings, graphics and sculpture, Oriental art (Turkish, Persian, Chinese, Japanese), as well as glass icons, Romanian folk art, Romanian and Turkish carpets, silverware, china, furniture, miniatures, etc. Building The museum is organized in the Romanit House, a beautiful historic monument from early nineteenth century.
